Nuclear plant of Hamaoka

The Nuclear plant of Hamaoka (浜岡原子力発電所 " Hamaoka Genshiryoku Hatsudensho"), is exploited by the electric Compagnie of Chūbu (中部電力).

It is located in the Préfecture of Shizuoka (静岡県) on the peaceful coast at the south-east of Honshu, the principal island of the Japan.

Description

The power station is currently equipped with 5 engines:
  • Hamaoka 1 : 515 MWe, brought into service in 1974.
  • Hamaoka 2 : 806 MWe, brought into service in 1978.
  • Hamaoka 3 : 1056 MWe, brought into service in 1987.
  • Hamaoka 4 : 1092 MWe, brought into service in 1993.
These four ebullient water reactors (REB, English BWR) of first generation were built by Toshiba.
The 5ère engine is an ebullient water reactor of advanced design (English ABWR) which was more recently built:
  • Hamaoka 5 : 1380 MWe, brought into service in 2005.
