The nuclear plant of Ginna is localized close to Rochester, in the State of New York to the the United States.

Description

The power station is equipped with single a Pressurized water reactor with two loops builds by Westinghouse:
  • Ginna : 498 MWe, brought into service in 1984, authorization until 2009.
This engine is identical to those of Point Beach, Kewaunee, and Prairie Island.
Ginna has one of the oldest nuclear reactors under operation in the United States.

Accident

The power station of Ginna knew a serious nuclear accident on January 26th, 1982, when radioactive vapor escaped in the air following a rupture from the tube from a Steam generator . The escape lasted 93 minutes and conduit with the declaration of a state of emergency on the site.
