Nuclear plant of Gösgen
The nuclear plant of Gösgen is located in the canton of Soleure in Suisse, on the Aar between Olten and Aarau.
The Nuclear plant of Gösgen is the second nuclear plant of Switzerland in terms of age and electrical production. It was brought into service in November 1979. It is the first Suisse nuclear plant to exceed them: 1000 megawatts of electric output. The Pressurized water reactor has a thermal power of: 3000 MW and it produces: 1000 MW of electricity.
Like the Nuclear plant of Leibstadt, the cooling water is not returned directly in the river which feeds the power station, because the power station is equipped with a Tower cooling 150 height meters.
The annual production of the power station reaches approximately 8 billion kWh (8 TWh), which corresponds to 15% of the electricity consumed in Switzerland. In the power station approximately 400 people work.
