Nuclear plant of Cernavodă

The nuclear plant of Cernavoda is localized with Cernavodă in Romania. It is about only the Rumanian Nuclear plant, it produces between 10% and 12% of the electricity of the country.

In the beginning, it was envisaged to build 5 there Nuclear reactors. Currently, 3 are in construction and only one is under operation. The project to build one 5th engine at abandoned summer. The engines are of Canadian design CANDU. The cooling water is taken in the the Danube.

The power station was designed in the Eighties and engine 1 was brought into service only in 1996, with a power of 706 MW. Engine 2 of the same power was started in September 2007. The third will be connected to the network in 2012.
