Nuclear industry in France

The use of the nuclear energy in France was initiated by the “Nucléaire plan”, launched by Raymond Barre.

Nuclear industry strongly developed in France, to reach 80% of the electrical production in the Années 1990.

It makes it possible to ensure a relative independence in the electrical production of France (uranium being imported, often country " fiables" , and can be stored).

The advantages of the nuclear production make that there exists in France a relative consensus on the nuclear energy utilization like energy source. Certain parties ecologists are favorable besides there.

There exist in addition some associations militant against the nuclear power (e.g. Réseau To leave the nuclear power).
