Nowa Huta (of the Polish: new foundry ) is an old new city Polish become the district is town of Cracow. With more 200  000 inhabitants, it is one of the most populated parts city.

In 1946, Bolesław Bierut, which was then president of the Poland (and later first secretary of the working Parti unified Polish) is seen proposing by Joseph Stalin the construction of a large metallurgical factory localized close to Cracow.

The building work begins in 1949. Nowa Huta was envisaged at the beginning to be socialist city-model independent, but in 1951, it is finally incorporated in Cracow, and becomes a new district of the city. All the parts of the city were built at the same time between the Années 1950 and 1960: districts of dwelling, downtown area, central place. The factory Vladimir Lénine (it loses this name in 1990) is inaugurated the July 22nd 1954.
