Novena enmienda a la constitución de Estados Unidos
The Peasant confederation is a agricultural Syndicat French. She is member of the European country Coordination and Via Campesina.
History
The Peasant confederation was born in 1987. She is the fruit of the meeting of two minority trade unions, FNSP and CNSTP.
The Peasant confederation had obtained 26,82% of the voices at the time of the elections to the Chambres of agriculture which were held in January 2001. This result made the second Agricultural trade union of it. She obtained on the other hand 19,57% of the voices at the time of the last elections of January 2007. She remains however the second agricultural trade union French, after FNSEA and right in front of the rural Coordination.
The Peasant confederation is present in almost the whole of the French departments, ultramarine areas included/understood.
The actions of Jose Bove on the national scene and international made known the trade union well beyond its sympathizers and of the French borders. Its candidature for the French presidential elections of 2007 and its positioning for the Extreme-left of the French political chessboard however seems to have contributed to the weakening of the audience of its trade union of origin near the farmers.
Objectives
The Peasant confederation militates for a country, respectful Agriculture of the Environnement, agricultural employment and quality of the products. With the network Via Campesina, it fights for a recognition of the right to the Food sovereignty. With this claim and its participation in the social forums, the conf is an important actor within the movement Altermondialiste. The trade union also asks for the end of the European agricultural grants which benefit the large owners, and is interdependent with the peasants of the Developing country vis-a-vis the multinationals of the agro-alimentary one.
Actions
Its actions against the surtaxation of the Roquefort by the the United States (in refusal of Europe to import ox with the hormones) then against the projects of the World Trade organization (OMC) in August 1999, and against the use of the genetically modified organizations (GMO) met an important echo within the Public opinion.
It publishes a monthly magazine interdependent Campagnes .
