History

The Patrice Abbon bases an abbey into 726 (oldest of Savoy) located on the road leading to the Mount-Cenis, having many grounds in Maurienne and Valley of Suse. It is burnt into 906 by “Buckwheats”, Its possessions will be divided.

The bailliage of Novalaise, at the 13th century, comprised 41 parishes in the Bugey Savoyard (become Savoyard Avant-Pays) and 22 in the Dauphiné with for chief town Voiron.

The common one was a chief town of canton in 1792 during fastening in France, until 1816, gathering 8 communes: Ayn, Dullin, Gerbaix, Marcieux, Nances (which amalgamates with Novalaise of 1803 to 1858), Saint-Alban-with-Montbel, Saint-Pierre-with Alvey and Verthemex. In 1816, with the return to Savoy, the canton of Novalaise is dismantled to allow the extension of the Canton of Pont-de-Beauvoisin, of the Canton of Saint-Genix-on-Guiers and the Canton of Yenne. In 1870, the common one makes a request at the General advice of Savoy to find his function, but obtains a negative answer. Gradually the commune loses all its functions of commands. The village has a market inherited the old fairs of the 13th century, which were transformed into market of Thursday (1925, but abandoned), then Sunday (on the initiative of a cheesemonger chambérien in 1945), being duplicated in market of Wednesday.
