Novaïa Gazeta (Новаягазета) is twice-weekly Russian.

He was created in 1993, when journalists decided to leave the daily newspaper Komsomolskaïa Pravda in the hope of launching a new influential daily newspaper able to denounce the problems of the Russian company.

Founded first of all under the name of Novaïa Ejednievnaïa Gazeta (" New Quotidien"), it changed some thereafter to become Novaïa Gazeta (" New Journal").

Even if it been able to meet the requirements that it had set, it nevertheless could be essential like twice-weekly good quality, deeply anticonformist, which been worth several lawsuits to him. One of its journalists was Anna Politkovskaïa.

The current editor as a chief is Dimitri Andreïevitch Mouratov. The former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev and the deputy of Duma Alexander Lebedev hold 49% of the newspaper and the newspaper the 51% remainder.
