Noto (river)

The Noto is a small river of Sicily. Called in antiquity the Asinarus , it threw in the Ionian Mer close to Hélore. The Athéniens lost there, the year 413 av. J. - C., a battle which ruined their forwarding of Sicily: Nicias, their general, was taken there by Gylippe, general of the Syracusains.
