Nothofagus pumilio

The Lenga , beech of the Earth of Fire or hornbeam , ( Nothofagus pumilio ), is a tree of the family Nothofagaceae (or of the family Fagaceae according to another classification). It is a species representative of the andino-patagonic forests of the south of the Chile and Argentine.

Its sheets are null and void, from 2 to 4 cm length, color dark green. They have a round or elliptic form. In autumn they become yellow or red. Its wood is of very good quality and is used in construction.

According to the place where it pushes, it can reach more than 30 meters in height and a diameter of 1,5 meters.
