the Notebooks of Mr Manatane is a French Televised series in 48 three minutes episodes, created by Benoît Poelvoorde and Pascal Brown the and diffused between 1997 and 1998 on Canal+.

Synopsis

This humorous series with sketches puts in scene the character of Mr Manatane. In turn Capitalist Billionaire, cynical, writer, Scientific, Singer, Philanthropist, esthetic surgeon or genius of mathematics, exorcist, king of the Paris-Quarter world, small son of a star of the western, Realizer of films, this odd character and sometimes hysterical is characterized by his black humor, its cynical irony and its sarcastic liveliness. The fans of long time of the series end by admiring the character, and trying to put dates on the great events of its life. But all raise the same question: How Simon (or Jean-Philippe or Jean-François) Manatane it became a " védette" , as it is defined?

In various connections, its course and its standpoint are not without pointing out those of personalities in sight at the time (ex: Nadine de Rothschild for the Orgy , Emmanuelle Béart for Africa , Lady Di for the Burial of Tarzan ), even of the films (ex: KKK for Full Metal Jacket) or of televised publicities (ex: Stockbreeder of champions , produced alimention for dog). Biography of Mr Manatane

The autobiographical elements distilled by the character about his origins are as rare as contradictory. According to semi-official sources, Mr Manatane would have been born in the years 1940 (a sketch reports a burial during which he amuses the German occupant). Many elements let suppose that his/her biological father was a German (it evokes the fact that his mother was shaven with the Release), but it affirms also on several occasions that his/her father was French.

Mr Manatane was probably married (in an episode during which it organizes a guided visit of its collection of tables, it indicates work representing his wife before his accident) and also seems to have had children, claiming even that Stephan Bern would be her son (resulting from a first marriage).

The biographical elements concerning Mr Manatane constitute a imbroglio events as incredible as contradictory which scramble the tracks unceasingly and prevent from establishing a discussion thread with its life. The polymorphic character of the character invites to apprehend each new episode of the series like an entity with whole share and which does not have necessarily a causal link with the other episodes.

Since the beginning of the Years 2000, Mr Manatane was obliged to exile itself in Belgium, for obscure reasons. One knows nothing any more him since his exile.
