Notched joint
The Trave is a Fleuve the Schleswig-Holstein, in the north of the Germany, which throws in the the Baltic.
Geography
The Notched joint takes its source in the district ( Kreis ) Ostholstein of the the Schleswig-Holstein, with a few kilometers in the north of the village of Gießelrade. It runs initially towards south-west until Bad Segeberg, then towards the south until Bad Oldesloe where it is curved towards the east to arrive to Lübeck. Over there, it is connected to the Canal Elba-Lübeck which joint the Elba with the the Baltic. It passes inter alia front the Cathédrale of Lübeck and the Holstentor, before constituting part of the border between the the Schleswig-Holstein and the Mecklembourg-Poméranie Western. It reaches the port Skandinavienkai , then, a hundred meters more in north, Lübeck-Travemünde, it throws in the the Baltic on the level of the Baie of Lübeck.
Bridges and Tunnels
The crossing of the Notched joint by the Bundesstraße 75 (trunk road) is done since the summer 2005 by the Tunnel with Péage Herrentunnel , which replaces old the tilting Pont Herrenbrücke .The old city of Lübeck, the new tilting bridge Eric-Warburg-Brücke must enter in service at the end of 2007.
Inland waterway
The Notched joint is between Lübeck and the the Baltic an important inland waterway. For this reason, the lower course of the Notched joint was several times dredged in the past to reach an average depth of 8 meters. River circulation is controlled by a power station located beside the Phare of Lübeck-Travemünde. The light signals are sent since the roof of this high building of 115 meters, and either of the old headlight.
