British Manufacturer of motor bikes, rested by James Lansdowne Norton with Wolverhampton in 1898, then transferred to Birmingham.
History
Norton Manufacturing Company, launched in 1898 product of the chains of motor bikes.First Norton produced were, in 1902, of the engine bicycles Peugeot or Clement.
Norton Motors Ltd is created after the repurchase in 1913 by the principal shareholder, R.T. Shelley & Co.
In 1960, Norton is sold in Associated Motorcycles (AMC), which had also AJS, Matchless, and Villiers.
In 1967 the, most famous of Norton is born: the Commando.
In 1973, creation of Norton-Villiers- Triumph (NVT) with the repurchase of Triumph with BSA.
Unfortunately, the recession and arrived on the market of the Japanese motor bikes obliges Norton to put the key under the door in 1976.
Kenny Dreer revives Norton in 1995 from its small repair shop, called Vintage Rebuild, and based with Portland, in the Oregon.
