Northrop T-38 Heel
The Northrop T-38 Talon is a Plane of drive builds with the the United States during the years 1960. Used to train the military pilots and the astronauts of NASA, it was the first plane of drive Supersonique and was produced with more than 1100 specimens. Still largely in service in 2006, it is regarded as one of the supersonic aircrafts surest.
History
The T-38 Talon drawn by Edgar Schmued is resulting from the same project as that which gave rise to the Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter, the N-156T, but is not a two-seater F-5 as one could believe it. This plane has in fact ordered as of 1956 by the US Air Force and the first prototype made its inaugural flight in March 1959, a few months before that of the F-5 (whose development only in 1958 started and who incorporates a certain number of modifications compared to T-38).
The first specimens of series were delivered starting from 1961 and the production continued until in 1972. A total of 1187 planes were built, of which some exported. With the the United States, T-38 is used at the same time by the US Air Force and the US Navy, like by NASA. It equipped the lifting Patrouille with the Thunderbirds of 1974 to 1981.
A first programme of prolongation of the lifespan of the apparatuses in several phases (named Pacer Classic ) was launched in 1984, consisting in revising the structure of the plane and changing the version of the engines. It was prolonged by a handing-over on level of all electronics of edge (installation of a sight head high, a GPS, etc…) who gave rise to version T-38C.
