Northern Pierre , of his true name Andre Brouillard , is a Militaire and writer of Paralittérature (spy novel, detective novels) French born on April 15th, 1900 with the Cateau-Cambrésis (Northern) and deceased on December 9th, 1985 with Monaco.
Its destiny of specialist in the Espionnage appears very early. Its city being occupied by the troops German be of 1914 to 1918, it delivers to the collection information for the allies by observing the movements of German trains. It is stopped by the occupant with Saint Quentin in 1916. Condemned to death, it is grâcié because of its young age and envoys in Strafbataillon (disciplinary battalion).
The end of the war enables him to resume its studies. Raise with the military academy of Saint-Cyr military school of 1920 to 1922, it starts a career of officer of the tanks. Admitted at the University of War of 1932 to 1934 and graduate of the Private school of Political sciences, it is distinguished with the Morocco where it is wounded.
It enters to the Second Office (military service of against-espionage). It publishes its first novel in 1936: Double crime on the line Maginot is a detective novel located in the military context of a Ligne Maginot which evokes already future the funny of war . Its second work, Ground of anguish in 1937 is a true spy novel inspired by its memories of the first conflict. Its two books will have a great success and will be immediately adapted to the cinema.
North becomes then chief of the special services of 9th and 10th armies when it is made prisoner (again) by the German troops in 1940. He escapes and becomes one of the organizers of the secret army while directing in 1943 the network Eleuthère . In the Release, it takes part in a third film Firing squad drawn from its novel éponyme in 1944-45. It leaves the army in 1945 to be devoted to the literature.
It publishes very many detective novels, of adventure and especially of espionage, without reaching however the literary quality of its British alter-ego Eric Ambler. Its spy novels, very documented, have as a recurring hero colonel Dubois, quiet Master-spy inspired of a former chief of French against-espionage. Their action, which proceeds on the various theaters of operations of the Cold war and the decolonization, make appear these novels dated well today, but they remain of an enthralling reading.
Its first works are appeared in the collection the Mask with the editions of the Fields-Elysées . Thereafter, Northern Pierre remained faithful to the editions Fayard . Its books, undoubtedly too dated, have not been republished for several decades. Northern Pierre is also the author of historical works and accounts on the secret war: My comrades died and the intoxication , in particular clarifying the operations of the allies to mislead Adolf Hitler on the project of Débarquement in Normandy.
