North York is the part of the Canadian city of Toronto which is in the north of the downtown area, and between Etobicoke and Scarborough (the district S in the west and is metropolis). An independent city in the past (considered a " partie" from Toronto but having its own mayor and municipal council), North York was amalgamated in 1998. Its mayor, Mel Lastman became the Maire of the " nouvelle" town of Toronto. Currently, the population of the district is approximately 650,000.

In the center of North York is a condominium and business district much, the last recently built and easy to see by far. It is located on Yonge Street (the main street of Toronto), but also on Sheppard Avenue where many constructions appeared. The district is served by two lines of the Métro of Toronto, from which one was supplemented in 2001 (which connects Yonge Street to Don Millets Avenue, under Sheppard Avenue and which gives access to Fairview Mall, a great center of purchase in the east of North York).
