North-western division (LNH)

In North America, the North-western division of the National league of hockey was formed in 1998 as a part of the Conférence of the West at the time of the addition of the Predators of Nashville.

Evolution of division

1998 - 1999

North-western division is a new division created especially in 1998 at the same time as the South-eastern division. The four teams of the first season of division came all from the division Pacifique. They were the following teams: Flames of Calgary, Avalanche of Colorado, Oilers d' Edmonton and Canucks of Vancouver.

2000 - Present

In 2000, the Wild of Minnesota integrates the North-western LNH and division.

Winner of the Stanley Cut

The only team resulting from Centrale division to have gained the Coupe Stanley is the Avalanche of Colorado. They carried out this performance in 2001 whereas they finished first of the conference of the West.

In 2006, the Oilers d' Edmonton lose in seven matches at the time of the finale of the Stanley Cut against the Hurricanes of the Caroline.
