Norman Johnson

Norman W. Johnson is a American Mathématicien , which taught with the Wheaton College (Massachusetts, E. - U.). It obtained off its Ph.D. with the Université of Toronto in 1966 with a Dissertation entitled The Theory Uniform Polytope S and Honeycombs ( the theory of the Polytope S uniforms and regular pavings ). Its reader was celebrates it mathematician H.S.M. Coxeter.

In its thesis of doctorate of 1966, Johnson discovered a group of three Antiprisme S who are today named the Antiprismes of Johnson.

In 1966, it also enumerated 92 Polyèdre S convex S non-uniform with face regular. Victor Zalgaller proved in 1969 that the list of Johnson was complete. Its elements are now called the solid of Johnson.

More recently, Johnson took part in the Uniform Polychora Project (Project of Polychores Uniformes), a work intended to find and name Polytope S in higher dimension.
