Nordiska Kompaniet , or NK (to pronounce " n-ko"), literally the company of north , is the name of two department stores Swedish, located at Stockholm and Gothenburg. The first was opened in Stockholm in 1902 by Josef Sachs, which had the ambiton to equalize the excellence of the department stores London Paris iens or .

The September 21st 1915, the building especially designed for NK was inaugurated close to the park of Kungsträdgården, in the center of Stockholm. It was drawn by the Swedish Master of the Art nouveau, Ferdinand Boberg, which took as a starting point the American department stores made of an internal structure in Acier and of a frontage in Granite.

In 1954, a made sign of a circular tube of Néon of seven meters Diamètre was installed, reproducing on a side the logo of NK , and other a Horloge. It weighs four tons and is perched with 87 meters with the top of the ground. It rotates at the speed of four turns per minute.

The store of Stockholm is currently attended by some twelve million people per annum. This number is of three million for the store of Gothenburg. These stores employ with them two approximately 1200 people.

The Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh was assassinated in store NK of Stockholm the September 10th 2003.
