Nordic Vikings

The Nordic Vikings TEAM is a club now late of the Asia League. It lasted only one season, 2005-06 before disappearing because of financial problems.

The Vikings were born from the common wish of the International federation of hockey and of the Chinese Fédération of hockey to help China to set up a gaining Chinese team, contrasting with the not very enviable results of the two other Chinese franknesses from the league, Qiqihar Ice Hockey TEAM and Harbin Ice Hockey TEAM, and to develop its players with a better level. The players of the Vikings all Scandinavian, were put aside six players coming from a programme of special exchange with Harbin and Qiqihar, program aiming at allowing these young people like to two Chinese trainers learning players and of personnel coming from country where the level of play is higher than their, and thus bringing a certain parity in the league once the stay of these people supplemented in the team. The program did not have unfortunately the anticipated results, Qiqihar and Harbin continuing to finish the good last.

The Vikings knew one good season, finishing fifths on nine and fascinating share with the eliminatory series, being made eliminate with the first turn by Oji Ice Hockey TEAM three victories against one.
