Norbert Casteret

Norbert Casteret , born with Saint-Martory (Haute-Garonne) the August 19th 1897 and died in Toulouse the July 20th 1987, is a French Spéléologue and prehistorian.

March 18th 1930, it takes part in the assembly constitutive of the Spéléo-Club of France, ancestor of the French federation of speleology. In 1931, one owes him the recognition of the source of the the Garonne in the Massif of Maladetta, with the hole of the toro . Precursor and cantor of modern speleology following Robert of Jolly, it contributed to the rise of this discipline by the writing of a number impressing of works.

Norbert Casteret is elected maintenor of the Académie of the floral Plays in 1937.
