Nokia

Nokia is a Finnish company of Télécommunications . In 2006, it amalgamated with the branch " télécommunications" of Siemens. In 2005, it was the largest world manufacturer of mobile phones, in front of Motorola and Samsung, with nearly 31,6% of market shares. The market share increased by 2 points for the year 2006 and reached 33,6%.

Etymology

In Finnish, Nokia , is the old name of the Zibeline, which gave its name to a river, Nokia, located at the west of Finland, on which one based the city Nokia, where the company at its origins was based.

History

The Nokia group was born in June 1966 from fusion from three industries going up at the 19th century and bearing this name already: paper mill, rubber and cables. The firm launches out in the television sets in the Années 1970, but continues to be a conglomerate “  touch with tout  ”. The takeoff of the mark is done in 1992 when the group gets rid of all its activities apart from telecommunications.

Nokia was its greater success in telecommunications about the year 2000 with its very famous cellphone Nokia 3210.

June 18th, 2006, Nokia and Siemens AG announce the fusion of their activities of telecommunications, thus giving rise to a world giant: Nokia Siemens Networks.

In August 2007, the firm announces the recall of 46 million batteries of the Matsushita mark in India, because of the risks of overheating of those. That causes immense demonstrations in all the country
