Noiraigue

Noiraigue is a common Suisse of the Canton of Neuchâtel.

Noiraigue is a village of 506 inhabitants, called Néraouis, which is located at the entry of Valley-of-Through, in the canton of Neuchâtel, in Switzerland. Its armorial bearings, visible in top on the right, are described as follows: " Part of azure with three gold and money fish to the fasce heavy shower of sable".

Noiraigue knew tops and bottoms: the commune reached to 1200 inhabitants and was strongly industrialized. So today the economy moved away a little from Valley-of-Through, our village has many assets. This would be only the throats of Areuse, splendid excursion (to trott itself) within an exceptional natural framework. Or then Hollow-of-Van, very picturesque and interesting mountainous circus. Indeed, this place today more than thousand-year-old is the departure of many excursions, for all the levels and all the interests!

The name " Noiraigue" is a toponym of Latin origin, but certainly of Germanic time composed of two words: will nigra and aqua, which means " water noire". It is the river of the same name which was called thus because, charged with peat, its color is dark.
