Noguinsk

Noguinsk (Russian: Ногинск ) is a town of Russia located at 54 km in the east of Moscow. Its population is of 116.300 inhabitants (2006). The city, which belongs to the Oblast of Moscow is sprinkled by the river Kliazma.

The village of Rogoj is created in 1339, then renamed Iamskaïa (1506); the agglomeration is famous thereafter Bogodorosk (city of the mother of God) by a decree of Catherine II about 1781, then Noginsk in 1930 in the honor of the Bolshevik Victor Noguine, who was a time mayor of Moscow.

During the 19th century and part of the 20th century the city has an important center of production of cotton fabrics. Today the main activities are the Industrie of wood and the Agro-alimentaire.

The city has a small network of lines of Tramway 14 km length created in 1923.

Vladimir Laptev was mayor of the city until 2005.
