The node of robber is a node of ajut. It is rare to obtain one from them voluntarily, most of the time, the person who carries it out thinks of carrying out a Reef knot. The difference is that, whereas for the reef knot the two currents must set out again on the same side, they set out again here each one on a side. This node resists only very little tension, it is untied quickly when one draws above.

In the beginning, this node was, says one, used by the sailors to close their bag. A robber who would open the bag would probably close again it with a Reef knot, more running and of very similar aspect. He would betray his passage thus, from where the name " node of voleur".
