Noctilien is the denomination of the service of bus of night of Île-de-France managed by STIF (Syndicat of transport of Ile-de-France) and used by the RATP and the SNCF. It replaces since the night from September 20th to 21st 2005 the offer Noctambus, proposing a number of lines increased, on courses answering better waitings of urban transport the night. The service was reinforced in the night of the December 9th and 10th 2006 by the creation of 7 new lines and the prolongation of a line.

These lines are used mainly by three categories of population among not-motorized:

• Hard-working of night
• Young people wishing to leave
• People refusing the car for various reasons

In the place of a center where all the lines (Châtelet before) converge, Noctilien proposes from now on suburban lines to suburbs as well as lines Paris-suburbs at the beginning of 4 large Parisian stations: the Station of the East, the Gare de Lyon, the Station Montparnasse and the Station Saint-Lazare. These four poles are in addition served by a circular line.

Noctilien account on the whole 42 lines of bus functioning of 00:30 to 5:30 of the morning, and this, for Paris and almost all the Ile-de-France (large and small suburbs). The network is composed of 2 lines known as circular making a belt between all the Parisian stations, of 31 lines known as radial on the basis of a Parisian station for the suburbs, of 8 lines known as crossing connecting suburbs to another while passing by Paris and of 1 line of by-pass in suburbs connecting the Market of Rungis to the station of Saint-Maur-Creteil.

The lines having a number with 2 digits are exploited by the RATP and have vocation to serve Paris and its outskirts of the city in the slow train. The lines having a number with 3 digits, exploited by the SNCF (except for line 122 and 153), cover they it outer suburbs thanks to bus direct or semi-direct.

Like Transilien and Mobilien, Noctilien recalls that the adjective naming all that with feature with the Île-de-France is francilien, from where the Gentilé of the inhabitants of the area.

Attribution of the numbers of line

Each number of line is preceded by the letter NR for Noctilien then of a number specific to 2 or 3 digits:

• the " 0 " tens corresponds to a circular line

• the " 1 " tens corresponds to a line crossing of Paris
• the " 2 " tens corresponds to the terminus " Paris Châtelet"
• the " 3 " tens corresponds to the terminus " Paris Parks of Lyon"
• the " 4 " tens corresponds to the terminus " Paris Parks of Est"
• the " 5 " tens corresponds to the terminus " Paris Parks St-Lazare"
• the " 6 " tens corresponds to the terminus " Paris Parks Montparnasse"
• the " 1 " hundreds marks a long distance (outer suburbs)
• the unit is random (from 1 to 6 to date)
• It does not have there no relationship with the letters of the old network Noctambus.

The line N71 is quite simply the line of night.

The lines N120 and N121 comprise a possible change with Châtelet (from where “2”)

The line N150 energy in Cergy the High RER is direct from Paris until Montigny-Beauchamp the RER. The slow train from Paris carries out its terminus with Montigny-Beauchamp the RER.
