According to the Bible, Noah is the son of Lamech, tenth of the line of Adam by Seth. He was born towards 2970 before the Christian era, 126 years after the death of Adam. When Lamech called his/her son of the name of Noah, he declared: This one will bring to us a consolation in our work and the pain of our hands coming from the ground that God cursed (Genèse 5:28 - 31).

The world in which Noah lived was degraded, but he even was not let corrupt, also the Word of God could it say about it: Noah was a man right. He showed himself without defect among his contemporaries. Noah walked with true God . Bible, Genesis, VI and Jude VI. The name of Noah in Hebrew, Noah , is formed of the two letters Noun and Het . Reversed, these two letters form the word Hen , grace; the two words appear in Genèse 6,8: " But Noah ( Noah , Noun Het ) had found grace ( Hen , Het Noun ) to the eyes of YHWH". If Noah looks at " in the yeux" of YHWH, it finds " there; grâce" , its reversed name, as in a mirror…

The history tells that, pained to see the ground filled of violence and corruption, God decided to drown his creations under a flood of Pluie. Only the family of Noah and the couples of animals of each species will be saved water thanks to the arch built according to the divine plans.

Advertisement of the flood made in Noah :

Yahvé called to Noah: Enter the arch, you and all your family, because I saw you only just in My eyes among this generation. Of all the pure animals, you will take seven pairs, the male and his female; animals which are not pure, you will take a couple, the male and his female and also of the birds of the sky, seven pairs, the male and his female, to perpetuate the race on all the ground. Because still seven days and I will make rain on the ground during forty days and forty nights and I will erase surface of the ground all the beings which I made . -- Bible, Genesis, VII.

According to the account, all the human ones are the descendants of Noah.

In 2 Pierre 2:5, Noah is described as " preacher of justice".

The intoxication of Noah

The account pays what follows: Gold, Noah started by being a good farmer and planted three vines then. And it started to drinking wine and will be enivra, and thus it was discovered in the middle of its tent .: Bible, Genesis, IX. These words did not let hear that Noah had habit of enivrer. The Bible announces this incident to explain in which circumstance the incident occurred which followed and which had considerable effects on the history of the world. Before the Flood, Noah did not attend the individuals of the corrupted human society who drank and who probably went until devoting themselves to orgies. This practice which blunted their sensitivity, is certainly one of the reasons for which they did not take guard with the divine warning, so that they did not realize anything until the Flood came and all carried them. Bible, Mathieu, XXIV, Luc XVII

The version found in the Handwritten of Qumrân - handwritten referred: 1QapGen; column 13 - makes state neither of drunkenness nor of nudity, (and thus of curse); it is question there of returning thanks to God after a consecutive festival to the first vintage after the flood. A prophetic image among Christians

The Prophet S Isaïe and Ezéchiel as Jesus de Nazareth mention Noah. Jesus and the apostle Pierre declared that the days of Noah precede the “presence of the Son of man” and a future day of judgment and destruction of the impious men . (II Pierre 3:5 - 7, 2:5,6; Mathieu 24:37 - 39).

In Coran

In the Coran, Noah (Arab نوح Nūh. , “cries”, “moanings”, “complaints”) are a Prophète, it is quoted on many occasions. The Sourate 71 door its name, it evokes the prèche made by Noah with his contemporaries who was the call to the God tender alone. The history of the Flood is also taken again in a way shortened in the sourate 11 and several others sourates in a way even shorter.

There are several notable differences in the history of Noah and the flood between the Bible and Coran:

  1. Noah, in Coran is a prophet. He preached the word of single God to his people.

  2. the people destroyed not the flood were bad intrinsically. There was no hope for them repentance and their offspring was also dedicated to being bad. The fact that these men could not generate the good gives a reasonable explanation to the flood.
  3. the history of the saoulery of Noah is not in Coran. Noah did not curse his small son because his/her son saw it naked whereas it was drunk.
  4. the people saved in the arch do not belong all to the family close to Noah. The good people, who believe in a God, were also saved.
  5. Coran does not speak about the universal flood but only about one flood concerning the people of Noah. Traditional interpretations which affirm the universal flood support on sources of origin judéo-chétiennes, but nothing in the Koranic text makes it possible to accredit the biblical thesis.
  6. In Coran one of wire of Noah among was not saved arch contrary with what is written in the Genesis. The name of this wire is not mentions in Coran but the Islamic tradition gives him the name of " Yam" , also named Canaan in the Genesis.

In the Moslem tradition, it is known as that: It is during the flood of Noah (Nuh or Nouh) that Allah would have created for the Arch a new animal: the Pig; It would have been used for " nettoyer" excrements of the other animals. Others rare sources add the Chat which would have been created then to avoid overpopulation and especially to limit the damage of the rodents on the Arch.
