No weapons
The not of weapons is a medieval Sport of knighthood. The principle of this true martial art consisted in holding a position (“to hold the step”) vis-a-vis adversaries in excess. The position to be defended is generally a tightened passage, allowing defense in numerical inferiority: bridge, ravelled, carries. Thus, the weapon No was often practiced with against several adversaries but also opposed an small group of combatants vis-a-vis a more troop. A little less violent than traditional the Tournament, this activity was installation at the 15th century. The golden age of the step of weapons covers one rather short period (1440 - 1468) then disappears in 1559 following the fatal accident from the king de France Henri II at the time of a equestrian Joute. Following this death, the sports of knighthood are abandoned.
One of the steps of the most famous weapons took place the 16 and September 17th 1493 with the castle of Sandrincourt. We have of long texts and illuminations over these sporting days. After two days of engagements, a large banquet is given.
The step of weapons also gave the opportunity to create true spectacles telling the exploits of Roland or Richard Heart-of-Lion in particular.
