No Pants Day
The No Pants Day (“day without French pants”) is a festival celebrated occasionally in several anglophone Western countries and other countries the first Friday of May while not carrying a Pantalon. The idea is to benefit from the freedom which is associated with the fact of not carrying pants.
Thick and a rather modest Caleçon is recommended for No Pants Day but the other underclothing, such as the Slip or the Shorty, make the deal as well. However, in addition to the pants, the port of other conventional clothing of the legs like the Skirt S, the dress S, the Shorts S and the Kilt S is also excluded.
According to certain not-confirmed texts, the origins of the festival would go up as of 1985/1986 but there is no known proof of these first celebrations. The Knighthood off BUH with the Université of Texas of Austin is defined as being the principal organizer and defender of No Pants Day. Austin, considered as the town of origin of the festival, celebrates the event since 1997 according to a circular of 1999.
In 2006, No Pants Day occurs the May 5th, at the same date as the Cinco of Mayo. In 2007, No Pants Day will fall a May 4th.
No Pants Day was named Best Local Holiday in 2003 by the magazine Austin Chronicle.
