Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma (born the January 27th 1949) is Foreign Minister of South Africa since 1999. It is ethnos group Zoulou, member of the African National congress (ANC) and old Minister for the health of 1994 at 1999. It is in addition, the former wife of Jacob Zuma, vice-president of South Africa of 1999 with 2005.

Biography

Nkosazana Dlamini was born in a Zulu family the January 27th 1949 in the province from the Natal in South Africa. It is the elder one of eight children.

It carries out its schooling with the college of Amanzimtoti, located on the coast of the Native one.

In 1971, it begins studies of Botaniste and Zoologie at the university of the Zoulouland. Graduate in science, it continues medical studies at the University of the Native one.

During these years of studies, Nkosazana Dlamini undertakes an underground political activity within the African, prohibited National congress by the white government afrikaner with the capacity.

In 1976, it is elected vice-president of the Organization of the South-African students. It is this same year that it is forced to exile itself and to join the Great Britain to finish its medical studies at the university of Bristol in 1978.

From now on doctor in Medicine, it returns to Africa, with the Swaziland to work at the hospital of Mbabane where it meets Jacob Zuma, her husband-to-be.

In 1985, it supplements its studies at the university of Liverpool by a diploma specialized in the infantile tropical diseases.

It takes then a post office with the direction of the health of the ANC before becoming the director of a nongovernmental British organization devoted to the health issues of the refugees.

In 1992, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma takes part in the constitutional negotiations between the ANC and the South-African government of Frederik de Klerk.

In 1994, it becomes black the Prime Minister for the health of South Africa in the government of Nelson Mandela. One of its priorities is then the fight against the Tabagisme. It thus makes prohibit to smoke in all the public places in 1999.

In 1995, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is made honorary doctor of the university of Native and the Bristol-board University in 1996.

In June 1999, following the general elections, the new president, Thabo Mbeki, appoints it Foreign Minister.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is divorced Jacob Zuma. This one is the vice-president of South Africa of 1999 to 2005.
