Nizier of Lyon

Saint Nizier was a bishop of Lyon at the 6th century (deceased in 573) which played a great part at the conciliar level. It succeeded the bishop Sacerdos of which he was the nephew. It is resulting from a senatorial family. It is related with the author Gregoire de Tours who in particular wrote a life of Nizier in his Vitae patrum . It was probably buried in the church which bears its name to Lyon (Eglise Saint-Nizier (Lyon)).
