Niwiska

Niwiska is a village located at the south-east of the Poland

Geographical location

Niwiska belongs to the district ( powiat ) kolbuszowski which is localized in (Voïvodie of Low-Carpates the). The village is populated approximately 1.500 inhabitants. It is located on the Rivière Odrzna, 45 km in the north-uest of Rzeszów. It is crossed by the road (Kolbuszowa - Tuszyma), by the road (Kosowy-Kamionka-Sędziszów) and the road (Niwiska-Przedbórz).

History

The village of Niwiska was founded in 1575 inside the goods belonging to Stanisław Tarnowski of the Leliwa blazon on the ground of the “insuperable forests” of the Virgin forest of Sandomierz. In 1593 Zofia Tarnowska founded in Niwiska the parish branch depending on the maternal parish of Rzochów with the church out of wooden of Saint Nicolas with Wzgórze Piaskowe. To Niwiska share, belonged to this pastoral district: Hucisko, Hucina, Trześń, Zapole, Huta, Poręby Kamińskie and Leszcze. According to the old mention, Niwiska was to be the place of the assertion of Saint Nicolas. The parochial school was founded in 1602, the hospital in front of 1728.

Second world war: The German Occupation of Niwiska starts with the armistice of September 8th, 1939 and is completed with the release of the territory in 1944. Between 1943 and 1944 with the neighbor countryside Blizna it was the experimental station of the German army of the Fusées V1 and V2.

Now much of the inhabitants works in France (around Paris).

  • the manor surrounded by a park built in second half of 19th century.
  • the parochial church Saint Nicolas (1880) and the Vault (1874) with the Cemetery.
