Nitrated (bubble)
The bubble nitrated is a culture medium allowing the research of the use of the ion Nitrate by certain micro-organisms, in particular by Respiration nitrates.
Composition
- Infusion heart-brain ............ 25,0 G - Nitrate of sodium ................. 10,0 G - Water distilled (qsp) .............. 1 L pH = 7,2
Reading
After having checked the presence of culture, to add the reagents Nitrites 1 and 2 (or Reactive of Griess).- a red coloring signs the presence of nitrites: bacterium Nitrate réductase +, stage nitrites).
- In the event of colorless medium, to add zinc (reducing nitrates). To wait a few minutes.
- a red coloring shows the presence of nitrites: the bacteria is Nitrate réductase - (there were nitrates in the medium, they were reduced by the Zinc, not by the bacteria).
- an absence of coloring shows the absence of nitrates: the bacterium reduced them out of nitrogen (there is not more in the medium so that zinc reduce them).
