Nithard (towards 800 - May 15th 845), grandson of Charlemagne, was a Historien and frank man of the church.

He was the son of Berthe, girl of Charlemagne, and the poet Angilbert called l'" Homère of the cour". He was abbot of the monastery of Saint-Riquier and died in the combat into 844. He is the author of a Histoire of wire of Louis the Piles in four books - memory of the top-facts of its time - which includes/understands the oldest texts known in tudesque and Romance language.

Through this one, it is in favor of Charles the Bald person in the quarrels which opposed it to his/her Lothaire brother.

It in particular transcribed the Serments of Strasbourg. These oaths were exchanged the February 14th 842 between his/her first cousins Louis and Charles, both wire of Louis the Piles and constitute the oldest known example of writing in novel, called to become the French language. It was killed during a battle, probably against the Vikings.
