Nisa (also Parthaunisa ) is an old city located close to the modern village of Bagir, to 18 km in the south-west of Achgabat (Turkménistan).

Nisa is described by certain like one of the first capitals of the Parthes. Traditionally founded by the king Arsace I {{er}} (reigning of 250 with 211 front J. - C.), it was perhaps the necropolis royal of the kings parthes, though one forever established that the Forteresse of Nisa is a royal residence or a mausoleum.

Excavations found several large buildings, of the mausoleums and temples ïques Mithra, much of handwritten documents, and a plundered treasury. One found there many examples of art hellenistic, as well as a great number of Rhyton S in Ivoire with which the edges are decorated with images Perses or are left traditional mythology.

Nisa will be later famous Mithradatkirt ( Fortress of Mithridate ) by Mithridate I {{er}} (circa 171 - 138 av. J. - C.).

It will be destroyed by an earthquake which has occurred during I er.

The fortresses of Nisa were added to the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO in 2007.
