Niksar

The town of Niksar , formerly named: Néocésarée or Neocaesarea , Cabeira or Cabira , Diospolis , Adrianopolis or Hadrianopolis , is one of the principal cities of the Province of Tokat, in Turkey.

History

Néocésarée, located in the Bridge-Polémoniaque, because of its late creation, is not mentioned before Pline Old the, which locates it on Eastern bank of the river Lycus, to 100 km in the east of Amasia.

It was re-elected for its beauty, its size and its historical importance with the Concile in 314. It is old évêché.
