Nikolay Mikhailovich Kamensky

The count Nikolay Mikhailovich Kamensky (the December 27th 1776 - May 4th 1811) was a Russian general, wire of the Feld-maréchal Mikhail Fedotovich Kamensky.
Nikolay is informed at the same time as his/her Sergei older brother, at the school of the juniors. In 1787, it is named Assistance-of-camp of his/her father. The emperor Paul Ier promotes it Major-general in 1799, and selected Nikolay to join Alexandre Souvorov during the Swiss countryside against Napoleon.
With the Battle of Austerlitz Nikolay Kamensky, subordinated Pierre de Bagration, loses 1.600 men and hardly manages to escape healthy and except. It is distinguished with the Bataille from Eylau and receives the Ordre of Saint-George in reward. On what it is sent with 8.000 soldiers to relieve the Siège of Gdańsk, but it fails and loses 1.500 men. The Bataille of Heilsberg costs the life 1.700 soldiers, placed under his command.
The Guerre of Finland - its most brilliant career campaign - bursts in 1808, Kamensky with the reputation to be carefree life of its soldiers. However, it is promoted general in 1809 and gains important successes against the Swedes with Kuortane and Oravais. It is him which conceives the daring plan to make cross the Gulf of Bothnia frozen by the Russian infantry, since Umeå in Finland towards Åland. Sweden is obliged to yield Finland to the tsar.
The war in north finished, Kamensky replaces Bagration with the head of the army of the Danube, which operates against the Turks in the Russo-Turkish Guerre of 1806-1812. Accompanied by his/her older brother, Kamensky gives the attack to Silistra and Pazardzhik but does not manage to take Shumen and Rousse. The October 26th 1810 it demolishes roundly the strong army of Osman Pasha of 40.000 men with Vidin. The Russians lost only 1.500 men, against 10.000 for their adversaries.
The February 4th 1811 Kamensky catches the fever and must be transported to Odessa for convalescence, leaving the command to Louis Alexandre Andrault de Langeron. He dies three months later at the 34 years age. He will have survived only 2 years his father.
