Nikki Sudden
Nikki Sudden , pseudonym of Adrian Nicholas Godfrey (born on July 19th, 1956 in London - died in New York on March 26th, 2006), was an English musician, singer, guitarist, producer and type-setter of rock'n'roll.
Biography
It has grows with Solihull (in the the Midlands English) where, since 1972, it goes up, with his/her brother a group which will become a figure of the Post-punk and rock'n'roll DIY after 1977.It then followed a second more traditional career of songwriter rock'n'roll, with many collaborations, which was worth to him a base very few but faithful enthusiastic listeners.
Sudden also wrote for multiple magazines, like Spec , Intro , Mojo .
It is deceased of an heart attack in its sleep after a concert with the New Yorkean club The Knitting Factory.
Career
The Swell Maps
In 1972, it has Co-founded the group Post-punk Swell Maps with his brother Epic Soundtracks (pseudonym of Kevin Paul Godfrey) whereas it was at the school. The first 45 turns, Read Butt Seymour , will leave in 1977, on their own label Rather Records. They will leave 4 simple and two albums.
The Jacobites
In 1983, with Dave Kusworth (member of the Dogs D' Amour, of TV-Eye and the The Bounty Hunters ), it founds The Jacobites which will publish the album Jacobites in 1984, a maximum Shame For The Angels (1984) and the disc Robespierre' S Velvet Basement in 1985. This last disc is German number 1 with the hit-parade independent and Nikki Sudden settles in Germany. The group separates first once in 1986.It is reformed in 1993 after the republication of their the first two albums and records three new albums: Howling Good Times (1994), Old Scarlett (1995) and God Save Custom Poor Sinners (1998) and a disc in public in Hanover, KIS Off Life (1996).
In solo
After the separation of the group in 1980, it began a career solo, influenced by T-Rex, Johhny Thunders, Bob Dylan, Neil Young etc It leaves two discs: Waiting One Egypt in 1982 and The Bible Belt in 1983.After a first interlude with The Jacobites (1983-1983), five albums solo in five years will be published by Creation Records: Texas in 1986, Dead Men Such No Bruise in 1987, KIS You Kidnapped Charabanc with Rowland S. Howard, old of The Birthday Party in 1987, the double-33tours Groove in 1989 and one compilation, Back To The Coast , in 1990.
In 1991, it leaves The Jewel Thief (republished under the title of Liquor, Guns & Ammo ), resulting from sessions of 1990 in Athens (in the American state of Georgia) in company of the members of R.E.M..
In 1995, Seven Lives Later an album with multiple guests appears (of the members of The Jet Servant boys, of The True Spirit, The Fatal Shore, Band Of Outsiders, Once Upon has Time, Vermooste Vløten, The Flaming Stars, Sonic Youth, Voodoo Witch, and of The Jacobites).
Treasure Island of Nikki Sudden and the Last Bandits leaves in 2002 with, there still, of the guests (Ian McLagan of The Faces and The Small Faces, Mick Taylor of The Rolling Stones, Anthony Thistlethwaite of The Waterboys, Dave Kusworth of Jacobites and Darrell Bath of Dogs D' Amour and Crybabys).
