Nik Turner
Nik Turner is musician, singer and British type-setter . It took part in the creation of the group Hawkwind and played there until 1976, then of 1982 to 1984, and occasionally for concerts.
He is saxophonist, flutist and singer, and brought a big part to the scenic image of Hawkwind, by his gestural and his extravagant disguises. He took part in the composition and in particular wrote one of the most famous pieces of Hawkwind: Brainstorm , which is on the album Doremi Fasol Latido .
In the Eighties, it forms the group Inner City Unit, kind of version Punk of the Hawkwind spirit.
With beginning of the year 90, he undertakes a return to ésotériques environments, with many references to the gods of old Egypt, and begins again on scene of the pieces which he played with Hawkwind. He is accompanied for that by the guitarist Helios Creed, who also brings to him to the public of the pieces of his time of glory with his old group Chrome. He carries out the album then live Space Ritual 1994 , in which find Genesis P. Orridge, ex Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, Del Dettmar and Alan Powell, old of Hawkwind, as well as undue members of the group Pressurehed. This double live then proves to be a fabulous synthesis of musical currents a priori distant of the Seventies and Eighties, the Space rock'n'roll and the industrial Musique.
