Niggaz With Attitude ( N.W.A. ) is a group of Hip hop American, originating in the suburbs of Los Angeles, which popularized the style Gangsta rap.
Their album with success, Straight Outta Compton (1989), became worship in the medium underground, because in particular of its words of a rare violence, especially the tube Fuck Tha Police (literally “the Police force Screws”). Besides FBI sent a letter of warning to the label of the group (Ruthless records) and to the associated recording company (Priority Records), to require that the group supervise the content of its texts. Actually, the letter of the FBI, very mediatized, will have caused only to increase a little more notoriety of the group.
N.W.A. left in 1990 album 100 Miles and Runnin' , then in 1991 album Efil4zaggin (with the back of which the inscription “Niggaz 4 Life appeared”), on which Dr. DRE (then DJ of the group) created at the same time dense sound environments and “funky” (which let predict its innovating sound called G-Funk ), associated with the texts of Eazy-E, tinted humor, and with those of Ice Cube, much more vehement and dealing with social problems. N.W.A. was thus maintained at the top better sales of albums of rep.
After the separation of the group, Dr. DRE knew a career solo marked by success, as well in the role of rappor as in that of producer (it in particular produced Snoop Doggy Dogg and Eminem). Ice Cube was success as a rappor and, to a lesser extent, as an actor. Eazy-E, as for him, died of the continuations of the AIDS.
