Nigel Godrich (born in 1971), is a British music producer of nationality . He is especially known for his work with the group English Radiohead, of which he is sometimes regarded as the sixth member. Its first collaboration with Radiohead goes back to 1994, during the recording of The Bends, the second album of the group. Whereas it was not any responsible on this album, it replaced one day John Leckie, the producer engaged by the group, party with a marriage. From this collaboration was born the piece Blackstar , initially intended to be a face B, but which finishes on the album, so much the result liked the group.

Its first collaboration on a whole album goes back to 1997, with OK Computer , the third album of Radiohead. The world success of this album raised Godrich with the rank of producer of rock'n'roll more courted planet.

He since collaborated, that is to say with the production or the mixing, with inter alia: Paul McCartney, Travis, Beck, Pavement, Air, Natalie Imbruglia, The Divine Comedy, U2, or R.E.M.

In 2002, the Strokes called upon him to produce their second album: Room One Fire , but not being satisfied with this collaboration, the New Yorkean thanked Godrich after only some sessions.

End 2005, the group Radiohead announced that it was not going to renew its collaboration with Nigel Godrich for its seventh album (which was to appear current 2006), in order to be able to continue to explore new musical horizons.
