Nigel Barley is an English writer, born in 1947 in Kingston one Thames (the United Kingdom). After studies of languages to Cambridge, it obtained a doctorate in social anthropology with Oxford. After various university employment, he works with the British Museum like assistant-conservative at the department of ethnography until 2003.

Its first book, " An anthropologist in déroute" (1983), is an alive and informative report of its work near the Dowayo with the Cameroun.
