Nieuil is a common French, located in the department of the Charente and the area Poitou-Charentes.

History

Belonged to the abbey of Uzerche

The commune of Nieuil accommodated François Ier which had a relay of hunting there, which evolved/moved to become current the Château of Nieuil.

Guillaume-Guy de Dampierre (1849-1906) author of the test on the history of the house of Dampierre in Normandy, was owner of the Castle of Nieuil. It made there push in 1900 the vineyard of Brénanchie, become famous in all the area , indicates in its book on the commune the former teacher of Nieuil, Guy Nepoux, passed to the retirement in 1989.
