Personalities related to the commune

Joseph Vogt took an active part in the exploitation of the Alsatian potassium salt. Its factory niederbruckoise of copper was used as site of construction of the drilling rigs for the mines of potash. During the First World War, he had promised himself to make set up a statue of the Blessed Virgin if its factory were not destroyed by the bombardments. At the end of the war, Joseph Vogt being deceased, they are his children who ordered the imposing statue with Antoine Bourdelle.
