Nicos Poulantzas (or Nikos) (in Greek Νίκος Πουλαντζάς) (1936 - 1979), Philosopher, Political economist and Sociologist French of Greek origin born in 1936 and died in 1979. He was married with Annie Leclerc.
Marxist thinker and militant of the Greek Communist party of the interior, its work are inspired in particular by design of the Marxism of Louis Althusser and Antonio Gramsci. It was interested in particular in the Fascisme and the Dictature S ( Fascisme and dictatorship ) but thus in the question of the political power and of the State ( political Pouvoir and social classes ). Towards end of the year 70, after the fall of the last Mediterranean dictatorships Nicos Poulantzas tried to outline theoretical contours of an original way towards a democratic socialism near to the designs of the eurocommunism. Its contributions on this topic were collected in a posthumous way in Repères and are specified in a more systematic way in the State, the capacity, socialism .
