Nicomède IV Philopator , king of Bithynie is the grandson of Nicomède II Épiphane and the successor, towards 95/94 Av J.C, of Nicomède III Évergète .
It returns to Roman, abandoned alliance by its predecessor, and sees his States invaded twice by the king of the Pont, Mithridate VI (towards 88 Av J.C - 85 Av J.C) which opposes its half brother to him (?) Socratès.
It is restored twice by the Romans. To its death in 74 Av J.C it yields its kingdom to Rome by will what is the pretext used by Mithridate to intervene once again.
