Nicole Garcia

Nicole Garcia is an actress, director and French scenario writer, born the April 22nd 1946 with Oran (Algérie).

Biography

After having completed her secondary studies in Algeria, Nicole Garcia arrives to France. She is registered with faculty and follows courses of dramatic art. She enters to the Academy and obtains a first price in modern Comedy in 1969. Its first film leaves in 1967 but it is thanks to “That the festival starts” of Bertrand Tavernier whom it is pointed out of the professionals, in 1974. Henri Verneuil engages it for “the Body of my enemy”, in 1977. Nicole Garcia obtains its first main role in “the Question”, film withdrawn of the rooms because he denounces torture during the war of Algeria. Its character of wife misled in “Cavaleur” makes it popular and is worth to him to receive César of the female best supporting role. She turns in “My uncle d' Amérique” of Alain Resnais, “All and sundry” of Claude Lelouch, “the Honor of a capitaine' of Pierre Schoendoerffer, “Boy!” of Claude Sautet, “Small Lili” of Claude Miller… In 1990, it begins a career of director, Nicole Garcia passes behind the camera, attempting to dissect the complexity of the human reports/ratios in the feature-length films which it carries out: “One weekend out of two” (1990) and “the preferred Son” (1994) is noticed by the critic, “Place Vendôme” (1998) and “Adversaire' (2002), which puts in scene Daniel Auteuil, gain success near the public. In 2006, it presents “According to Charlie” in Cannes. Great figure of the 7th art, one finds it in “My place with the sun” in 2007.

It has two wire, Pierre (singer and actor) wire of Jean Rochefort and Frederic (director).
