Nicolas of Hospital

Nicolas of Hospital (born in 1581 - died in 1644 with Nandy close to Melun), lord of Nandy and Coubert, more known under the name of marshal of Vitry , was a French soldier of the beginning of the 17th century, which was high with the dignity of Marshal of France by Louis XIII.

Biography

Grandson of François of Hospîtal, wire of Louis Gallucio of Hospital, Nicolas of Hospital became captain of the guards under the reign of Louis XIII. For this reason, it took part in the conspiracy which was to put at dead Concino Concini, protected from the regent and mother from Louis XIII, Marie de Médicis. It is itself which accepted the order to kill the marshal of Anchor the April 24th 1617.

After this execution it was promoted Marshal of France. It was however locked up with the Bastille some years later on order of Richelieu, for the violences exerted on the archbishop of Sourdis. It was released the January 19th 1643, and died in Nandy close to Melun in 1644.
