Nicolas Meisel
Nicolas Meisel is a economist French, born the April 8th 1977 with Suresnes (France). It is interested in particular in the Economic development and in and the Africa. Since the autumn 2005, it works with the AFD (French Agence of development). Of 1999 at 2005, it worked at the Development center of OECD, under the direction of Charles Oman.
Formation
Meisel is graduate of HEC (M.Sc of management) and of the Université of Paris X Nanterre (DEA in economy). It finishes its Thèse Doctorat under the supervision of Michel Aglietta. It in addition began a DEA in philosophy.
Works
Its first book, which is entitled Culture of Gouvernance and development: Another glance on the Governorship of company , and which was written under the supervision of Charles Oman, was an unquestionable academic success in France and abroad. Dani Rodrik, professor of economy to Harvard, in particular said that it was about a " test as rich as penetrating whose reformers of the world under development have much with apprendre" and Daniel Cohen qualified it " shining economic exercise of compared history. The lesson of the rebuilding of France the shortly after the Second world war is of an major importance for the political officials of the emergent countries of aujourd'hui".
Description of the study, extracted the French Documentation: " The main part of the criteria used to evaluate the institutions of governorship of company in the countries in the process of development takes as a starting point the experiment of the Anglo-Saxon countries. But certain experiments of development, like the Asian miracle or the Thirty Glorious ones in France, proceeded contrary to this model of reference. While being based on the study of the French case, the author proposes a systematic analysis of the institutional mechanisms of production and division of confidence, capacity and information. The grid of reading thus developed underlines how much it is important not to analyze the institutions of governorship independently of the culture in which they inscrivent."
In parallel of its work to the AFD, it finishes a study at the Development center of OECD on the role of the institutional investors in the development, also under the direction of Charles Oman.
